An Innovative Curriculum
The online MA in Communications and Digital Media is a 36-credit program that focuses on both traditional and digital forms of media and communications. In addition to coursework, students have the choice of completing either a thesis assignment or an internship. The program also offers students the flexibility to pursue one of two optional, focused, in-depth concentrations:
- Digital Filmmaking and Media Production
This concentration is ideal for those who want to express their creativity in the film and media industry. Students will gain hands-on experience with every stage of media production, from script writing to post-production video editing.
- Social Media and Public Relations
This concentration explores different types of communication that are essential for businesses to succeed today, from coursework covering corporate communications and reputation management to classes that give you hands-on experience with digital media innovation.

Our Student-Run Public Relations Agency
Entrance One is a hands-on, student-run PR agency within the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences that promotes events within the department, as well as taking on work for external clients. Students who are part of Entrance One gain real world public relations and event planning experience, along with pieces for their portfolio.
A Documentary Course that Wins Awards
One of our MA in Communications and Digital Media courses, Producing the Documentary, has consistently garnered awards for its innovative documentary films. The course gives students the opportunity to work on projects they are passionate about, travel to other countries, and put a documentary film credit on their resume before they graduate.
The Department Newsletter and Blog
The Pitch is the official student-run newsletter of Pace Media, Communications, and Visual Arts department, featuring articles about the department. MCVA Offscript is the Media, Communications, and Visual Arts department blog featuring engaging posts written by our students. Students who work on The Pitch and Offscript gain valuable writing, editing, and public relations experience, along with pieces for their portfolios.
Connections in Communications is an annual event that allows students to virtually meet with alumni, ask questions, and learn about the industries they’ve moved onto after graduating from Pace. The professionals that virtually attended in 2020 held jobs across the full range of media and communications careers.

Our MA in Communications and Digital Media faculty work in a variety of professions, from documentary filmmakers and screenwriters to public relations specialists and journalists. Candidates are required to hold a four-year undergraduate degree or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution. A 3.0 undergraduate GPA is preferred, though we use a qualitative approach when looking at applications.
