We offer three opportunities to start the MS in Data Science each year, in the fall, spring, and summer.

We consider applications on a rolling basis, so you are welcome to apply any time before the posted deadline. You can expect to receive a decision within five to eight business days following receipt of your application and all supporting documents.

Admission Requirements

Applications are carefully reviewed by the Graduate Admission Committee utilizing a holistic approach which considers qualitative and quantitative factors to ensure that admitted students have the requisite background and ability to succeed in the program of their choice.

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred
  • Proficiency in calculus and linear algebra, some knowledge of probability and statistics, and experience in programming and databases
    • Students who do not meet the prerequisite level of knowledge for the MS in Data Science program are required to take two online bridge courses before starting the core/foundation curriculum:
      • CS 623 – Database Management Systems
      • CS 661 – Python Programming

Our multifaceted admission process includes an evaluation of academic credentials from all prior colleges and universities attended as well as professional experience, service history, career aspirations, and communication skills.

Resume Your resume should call out your experience in data science, programming, and working with databases.
Two (2) letters of recommendation (optional) Two letters of recommendation are optional but strongly recommended. If you choose to submit letters of recommendation in support of your application, letters should be from academic or professional references who can knowledgeably comment on your ability to successfully complete graduate study. Please note that the Graduate Admission Committee reserves the right to require letters of recommendation on a case-by-case basis.
Transcripts Unofficial transcripts may be submitted but official transcripts from all institutions attended are required upon acceptance. See below for submission instructions.
Personal statement Your personal statement should explain to the Graduate Admission Committee in 750 words or fewer why you would like to pursue an MS in Data Science.
Additional information regarding your academic and professional experience may be included in the supplement.

Transcripts

Official transcripts must be submitted upon acceptance to the data science master’s program. Whenever possible, Pace prefers to receive transcripts electronically. The University participates in several electronic transcripts networks: Credentials, Parchment Exchange, National Student Clearinghouse, and eSCRIP-SAFE. Check with your prior institutions to determine whether they participate in any of these networks.

Transcripts from every accredited college or university you attended or graduated from must be sent directly from the academic institution to Pace University, electronically or by mail. Transcripts may also be forwarded by the applicant in sealed envelopes from the academic institution.

International Students

International students must satisfy the proof of English proficiency requirement by submitting TOEFL, IELTS, or Pearson PTE scores. The Duolingo English Test may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.

Note: International students will not receive a student visa for the online master’s in data science.

Pace University’s Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems will consider applicants who have earned or will earn a three year bachelor’s from Australia, Canada, Bangladesh, New Zealand, Pakistan, Bhutan, Nepal, South Africa, Sri Lanka, India, and European countries that are a part of the Bologna Process eligible for graduate admission to all degrees.
