Marcus Braga-Alves is an associate professor of finance at Pace University. He earned his MBA from Pace University and his PhD in Finance from the University of Pittsburgh. His research analyzes problems that confront market participants and the academic community in the areas of investment management, corporate finance, and international finance. He is especially interested in the study of the development of capital markets in emerging countries. His work was published in the Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Financial Markets, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of International Money and Finance, among other journals.

Before moving to the US, Braga-Alves worked for five years as a consultant in the spot and derivatives markets for agricultural commodities in Brazil. A prime responsibility during that time was to promote the use of commodity derivatives for price risk management by local farmers, who faced the new challenges resulting from increasing deregulation and globalization.

Charles Tang is an associate professor and the chair of the Accounting Department. Tang joined the Lubin School of Business in 1997. His research is primarily in the area of accounting information, auditing, and equity valuation. His research has been published in prestigious academic journals including Journal of Accounting and Economics, Accounting Horizons, Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, Journal of Corporate Finance, and Strategic Management Journal, among others. He has presented his research at national and international conferences including the American Accounting Association’s annual conference. Tang has served as a reviewer for academic journals including the Journal of Business Ethics and as a member of several doctoral dissertation committees at Lubin and other business schools.

Tang’s research work has been cited by other scholars in published research papers 558 times as of September 2017. One of his research papers was listed as the Social Science Research Network’s Top Ten Downloaded Papers in the area of Accounting and Finance in recent years. In the database of accounting researchers maintained at Brigham Young University, which ranks publications in top accounting journals, Tang is ranked among the top 100 researchers internationally in auditing research by a number of publications in the past six years. Tang was a recipient of Lubin’s Excellence in Research Award in 2015.

Tang teaches financial, managerial, and international accounting courses in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. Tang’s teaching is highly rated by students. He is a recipient of the Kenan Award for Teaching Excellence in 2014, Pace University’s highest honor for teaching.

Tang served as the acting chair of graduate programs in accounting in 2012-2013, and the faculty advisor to Pace’s Iota Lambda Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, an international fraternity of honor students in accounting, finance, and information systems, in 2007-2013. He was a recipient of the Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award from the BAP National Headquarters and the Excellence in Service Award from the Lubin School of Business in 2013.

Ping Wang is an associate professor of accounting at the Lubin School of Business. She joined Lubin in 2011 and has served as the faculty advisor for Pace’s chapter of ALPFA since then. She is the co-chair of the Lubin Faculty Scholarship Committee and the co-editor of the Lubin Business Review.

Her research focuses on executive compensation, voluntary disclosure, and financial regulation. Her dissertation, entitled “Consequences of Voluntary Disclosure for CEOs: Evidence from Issuing Earnings Guidance in the Face of an Earnings Surprise,” received the best doctoral student award at the American Accounting Association’s Mid-Atlantic Meeting in 2011. Her co-authored paper, entitled “Heartland Payment Systems: Cybersecurity Impact on Audits and Financial Statement Contingencies,” received the Best Contribution to Teaching Award at the 22nd Annual Ethics Research Symposium in August 2017. She has published in Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, Accounting Horizons, and Research in Accounting Regulation. Her research was featured on Harvard Law School Corporate Governance forum and Dow Jones Institutional News. She presented several papers at American Accounting Association section and regional meetings in the past years and served as an ad hoc reviewer for these meetings as well.

She regularly teaches Intermediate Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Accounting Research Project at both undergraduate and graduate levels. She has served as a core course coordinator in the Accounting Department since 2013.

Pradeep Gopalakrishna, known to his students as Dr. G., is professor and chair of the Marketing Department at the Lubin School of Business. His teaching career spans 30 years. Dr. G. teaches at the doctoral, MBA, and undergraduate levels.

Dr. G. is closely involved with various external programs conducted by the Center of Global Business Programs at Lubin. He has published over 25 refereed journals/case study journal articles to date. Dr. G previously served as managing editor of Psychology and Marketing. Professor G. has presented at numerous academic conferences including American Marketing Association conferences, among others to his credit.

Dr. G. is marketing faculty adviser to the Doctor of Professional Studies (DPS) program in the Lubin School.

Ipshita Ray is an associate professor of marketing and program chair at the Lubin School of Business, Pace University, New York. Her research interests include customer decision-making processes, customer relationship management, online versus offline shopping behaviors, brand evangelism, self identity, algorithms and social communities. She has published in journals such as the Journal of Business Research, Journal of Marketing Communications, Journal of Strategic Marketing, Journal of Brand Management, Journal of International Management Studies, and Journal of Academic and Business Ethics among others. Ray has been a reviewer for several journals including the Journal of Strategic Marketing, Atlantic Marketing Journal, and the Journal of Marketing Communications. She has chaired sessions at the Academy of Business Research in 2016 and 2017. She is a member of the American Marketing Association, Association of Consumer Research, Academy of Marketing Science, and Academy of Business Research. Ray has presented in international and national conferences including the International Society for Research in Emotions, Academy of Marketing Sciences, American Marketing Association, Academy of Business Research, and Atlantic Marketing Association among others.

Since joining Pace University in 2005, Ray has been a faculty advisor to several student organizations including the Lubin Graduate Marketing Association and Advertising Club. Her teaching portfolio includes graduate and doctoral courses in business research methodology, consumer behavior, strategic marketing planning, new product development, digital marketing, international marketing, and marketing management. At the undergraduate level she has taught marketing research, new product development, principles of marketing, and media planning and buying. Ray has incorporated marketing and digital analytics tools and methodology in all her courses since 2015. Skills frequently taught in her classes include coding, data mining, data visualization, descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytics. She uses in-demand tools such as Google Analytics, Tableau, Python, SPSS, AMOS, Simmons, MRI, Nielsen @Plan, and many others in a variety of her classes. Since 2013, Ray has built successful ongoing partnerships between Pace University and companies such as Publicis, GroupM, and IBM, directing data analytics competitions every year. Over 24 students have received offers as a result of these collaborations, including visa and Green Card sponsorships for several international students who have made highly successful career starts at these global conglomerates. Ray is dedicated to further strengthening the partnerships with Publicis, GroupM, and other giants in the industry with the creation of an analytics advisory council which will help support curriculum enhancement, professional development, and analytics training for all Lubin students.

Ray has guest lectured at the Wharton School of Business and University of Connecticut. Ray also has over ten years of practitioner experience in marketing research and media planning with companies such as MMA/Carat, J.Walter Thompson, and Citibank. She was the Advertising Education Foundation’s 2008 National Award Recipient and worked with host advertising agency DDB, Chicago on McDonald’s, Budweiser, Wrigley’s, and State Farm accounts. In 2002, Ray was awarded the Outstanding Professor of the Year award at Fairfield University in Connecticut, with an honorary induction to the National Honors Society for Adult Learners in Continuing Higher Education (Alpha Sigma Lambda).

Ray was the recipient of the Kenan Excellence in Teaching award in 2018, which is the highest honor bestowed for exemplary teaching university wide, and for which she was honored during commencement at Radio City Music Hall on May 22, 2018.

Aron Gottesman is professor of finance and the chair of the Department of Finance and Economics at the Lubin School of Business at Pace University. He holds a PhD in Finance, an MBA in Finance, and a BA in Psychology, all from York University. He has published more than 30 academic articles and books, including publications in the Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, and the Journal of Financial Markets, among others. His research has also been cited in newspapers and popular magazines.

In 2017, Gottesman authored a book titled Understanding Systemic Risk in Global Financial Markets (Wiley Finance), coauthored with the DTCC’s Michael Leibrock. In 2016, Gottesman authored a book titled Derivatives Essentials: An Introduction to Forwards, Futures, Options and Swaps (Wiley Finance), based on the popular course that he teaches at Pace University.

Aron Gottesman received Pace University’s Kennan Award for Teaching Excellence in 2017. Gottesman teaches undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral courses on financial markets, derivative securities, and asset management. His approach to teaching is to show students that while quantitative skills are important, success in finance is fundamentally driven by one’s ability to comprehend, reason, and communicate. He strives to give each student a sense of “ownership” of every topic that he teaches, as well as the tools that they require to succeed during their professional careers.

Professor Carter is a professor of management science. He joined the Lubin Graduate School of Business faculty in the Management Science department in 1980 and served as department chairman for several years. He is currently serving as chairman of the Graduate Curriculum Committee. His teaching interests include business analytics, statistics, and operations management.

He has served as a reviewer for the TQM Journal and his research has been published in the TQM Journal, the International Journal of Business Research, and Review of Business Research, among others. He regularly attends academic conferences and presents his current research. His current research includes health care quality measurement, the impact of the Affordable Care Act on health care quality and patient satisfaction, and market structure analysis of frequently purchased consumer goods.

Janice Winch is an associate professor of management science and director of the business analytics program in the Department of Management and Management Science. She joined the Lubin School of Business in 1994 and is the faculty advisor for Pace Chapter of INFORMS.

The courses she has taught include introductory business analytics, simulation, predictive analytics, optimization models, operations management, supply chain management, and quality management. She is interested in using technology to enhance learning and has created approximately one hundred lecture videos for her courses.

She also co-teaches Lubin Analytics Boot Camp, a 20-hour workshop offered in the fall and spring semesters, providing hands-on introduction to the popular tools in analytics such as R and Python. In addition, she advises the Pace team on the annual Business Analytics Competition held at Manhattan College. In 2015, the Pace team placed first in the inaugural competition.

Winch’s research interests include optimization, predictive analytics, Monte Carlo and discrete-event simulation, queueing models, and pedagogy. She is especially interested in integrating predictive analytics and optimization techniques to improve decision making in organizations. She has published in journals such as Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, International Journal of Production Research, Journal of Education for Business, and INFORMS Transactions on Education.

She has served as a reviewer for Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education, Interfaces, International Journal of Production Research, Organizational Management Journal, and The Case Journal.

Winch serves as the College Relations Chair for New York Metro Chapter of INFORMS and annually organizes Careers in Analytics panel for students in the New York Metro area.

An authority on organization management and global leadership, Eric Kessler is the Henry George Professor of Management and founding director of the Business Honors Program at the Lubin School of Business at Pace University. This year, he was also named distinguished professor at Pace University.

As a management scholar, he is the general editor of the Encyclopedia of Management Theory and a Choice book award winner who has published five critically acclaimed books that have sold in 70+ countries. He also has over 100 combined academic papers and research presentations that have earned several best paper awards and appeared in many of the field’s top outlets.

As a management educator, he is a Kenan Teaching Excellence Award winner who has pioneered innovative curriculum development, led numerous international field studies, and mentored many academic theses and community service projects. In his more than 20 years of instructing 4,000+ students, he has received the highest levels of user satisfaction in undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, executive, and corporate education programs.

As a management leader, he has sat on several editorial and advisory boards (including the prestigious Academy of Management Review), was named a fellow and served as president of the Eastern Academy of Management. He has been appointed to several prominent panels including with the United States National Security Education Program and the National Screening Committee of the United States Fulbright Program, and been inducted into Phi Beta Kappa as well as national and international honorary societies in the areas of business, forensics, economics, and psychology.

Kate Richardson is an associate professor and undergraduate program chair of the Management and Management Science Department. She joined the Lubin School of Business in 2009 and teaches a variety of courses in management and business at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including Principles of Management, Managerial Negotiations, Negotiations & Bargaining, Training & Development, Contemporary Business Practice, and UNV 101. Richardson’s research focuses on how individuals cope with change and the related stress that may result from major life and career transitions. She has published in Information & Organization, Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, Journal of Loss & Trauma: International Perspectives on Coping, and Academy of Management Proceedings, in addition to other journals.

Richardson’s meta-analysis on stress management interventions published in the Journal of Occupational Health Psychology earned the Best Paper Award from the Journal, and was selected to be part of the prestigious Organizational Health and Well-being 3-volume book published in 2011. More recently, Richardson was asked to contribute to the special issue of the Journal of Occupational Health Psychology at 20 celebrating 20 years of the journal. Her article “Managing Employee Stress and Wellness in the New Millennium” was published in July 2017.

Richardson was asked to be a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Occupational Psychology beginning in 2018. Theresa Lant is the academic director of the arts and entertainment management program at the Lubin School of Business. Lant received her PhD from Stanford University in 1987 and her BA from the University of Michigan in 1981. She joined the Lubin School of Business at Pace University in 2009. Since joining Pace University, she has helped to develop a new program in Arts and Entertainment Management. She is a founding member and serves on the board of directors of ArcStages, a live theatre organization that provides educational programming, community theatre, and professional theatre for Pleasantville and the surrounding communities. Lant teaches strategic management, general management, and managing innovation.

Lant is an internationally recognized scholar whose work is highly cited. Her research examines the influence of cognition on learning and adaptation in teams and organizations. Her current work explores cognition and learning processes in interdisciplinary teams, with a focus on innovation initiatives in medicine. For the last several years, she has focused on contributing to the emerging field of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary team science. She received a National Science Foundation grant in 2013 to study and train interdisciplinary medical research teams at major medical institutions around the country. This work has been presented at the SciTS (Science of Team Science) group of the National Institutes of Health and at the Academy of Management Annual Meetings. This research has also been highlighted in the recent National Academies of Science report “Enhancing the Effectiveness of Team Science,” (Nancy J. Cooke and Margaret L. Hilton, Editors; Committee on the Science of Team Science; Board on Behavioral, Cognitive, and Sensory Sciences; Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Education; National Research Council).

Formerly a senior editor at Organization Science, she now serves on the editorial review boards of Organization Science and Organization Studies and performs ad hoc reviewing for Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Discoveries, Journal of Management Studies, and the National Science Foundation. Ibraiz Tarique is the chair of the Department of Management and Management Science and professor of human resources and talent management. He earned his PhD in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management from Rutgers University (2005). His current academic research interest is in international human resource management with a focus on issues related to talent management, developing high potential employees, and dynamic global and managerial competencies.

He has written extensively in academic and professional journals. His publications include articles in the International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of World Business, Human Resource Management Review, and International Journal of Training and Development and several scholarly book chapters. He has presented numerous papers at the Annual Academy of Management Meetings. He is a member of several editorial boards of the international peer-reviewed journals including International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of Global Mobility, European Journal of International Management, Cross Cultural Management: An International Journal, International Journal of Training and Development, Journal of Organizational Effectiveness, South Asian Journal of Global Business Research, and Advances in Global Leadership.

Noushi Rahman is a professor of management. He is the Management concentration advisor of Lubin’s doctoral program and also the course coordinator of the undergraduate capstone course. He joined the Lubin School of Business in 2003.

The courses he has taught include Business Strategy (MGT 490) and Organizational Behavior (MGT 322) at the undergraduate level, Competitive Business Strategy (MGT 637), Corporate Diversification Strategy (MGT 638), and Business Strategy and Stakeholder Responsibility (MBA 688) at the graduate (master’s) level, and Seminar in Strategic Management (MGT 836) at the graduate (doctoral) level. He is heavily engaged in incorporating technology to enhance learning. In recent years, he has developed content for publisher-supported online platforms (e.g., Connect by McGraw Hill), redesigned content for online courses, and taught numerous online-only courses for the iPace program.

Rahman’s research interests include cooperative and competitive strategy; corporate social and environmental responsibility; and corporate misconduct and reputation. His papers have been published in the Journal of Business Ethics, Business & Society, and Long Range Planning among others. From 2005-2014, he served as a member of the editorial board of Group and Organization Management. He has reviewed for Organization Studies, Long Range Planning, Journal of Business Ethics, and Business & Society among others.

At Pace University, Rahman received several awards, including the University Faculty Award for Distinguished Service and the Green Pace Award. As an active scholar of the University, he has received the Wilson Center Fellowship and the Pace Academy Fellowship.

Patrick McGuigan is a clinical professor in the Management Department whose research covers management education, innovation, and processes related to decision-making. He joined the Lubin School of Business in 2012 and has served as faculty advisor for a social fraternity and is a member of the Delta Sigma professional fraternity. He enjoys advising undergraduate students and facilitating the freshman university experience. McGuigan serves as the program evaluation chair of the Management Education and Development Section of the Academy of Management.

McGuigan has served as a journal reviewer for the Journal of Entrepreneurship Education since 2014. In the past, he has also served as a reviewer for the Organizational Behavioral Teaching Conference (OBTC), The Academy of Management (AOM), The Eastern Academy of Management (EAM), Institute of Behavioral and Applied Management (IBAM), and other journals. McGuigan has served as the editor of the Management and Leadership section of the Society of Financial Services Professionals since 2015. He also contributes to the International Risk Management Institutes.

To remain professionally engaged, McGuigan is involved with the Society of Financial Services Professionals and the CPCU Society. Pritha Dutta is an assistant professor of management science in the Department of Management and Management Science in the Lubin School of Business at Pace University. She joined the Lubin faculty in Fall 2019 after receiving her PhD in Management Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in May 2019.

Dutta’s research interests include operational and strategic issues faced by supply chains in the healthcare industry and other areas with public policy implications, and of societal value such as sustainable supply chain management, and humanitarian logistics. Her research, focusing on modeling and analyzing blood supply chains in the United States in the face of several challenges including, but not limited to competition among non-profit blood banks, has been published in international journals such as Annals of Operations Research, Omega: The International Journal of Management Science and Operations Research for Health Care. She has also worked on the airlines industry, using data analytics to study the impact of implementation of baggage fees on on-time performance of airline companies, which was published in Transportation Research E in 2017.

Dutta has been an active member of INFORMS and has been presenting her work at the INFORMS Annual Meetings since 2015. Dutta has also had the opportunity to present her research at the Decision Sciences Annual Meeting in 2016 and at the Canadian Operational Research Society Annual Conference in 2018. She has been a reviewer for Optimization Letters and Journal of the Operational Research Society. Teaching has always been a passion of Dutta’s. Her teaching interests include business statistics, data analytics, optimization, operations, and supply chain management. She enjoys mentoring students for in-class projects as well as for independent research.

Iuliana Ismailescu

Associate Professor

Iuliana Ismailescu, PhD, is associate professor of finance and co-chair of the Middle States Self Study Executive Committee. Her research interests include emerging debt and equity markets, international finance, and credit risk. Her research was published in the Journal of Banking and Finance, International Review of Finance, Review of Pacific Basin Financial Markets and Policies, and Journal of Investment Management, among others. She co-authored a mathematics book in Romanian and contributed several book chapters to Interest Rate Risk Modeling and Dynamic Term Structure Modeling. Ismailescu received the FMA 2007 Best Dissertation Proposal Award in International Finance for her PhD thesis Three Essays on Emerging Capital Markets. Ismailescu frequently presents her research at domestic and international conferences and serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for top tier finance journals.

Ismailescu currently teaches courses in Financial Management, International Finance, and Investment Analysis at undergraduate and graduate levels. She also runs a seminar in Capital Markets in the doctoral program.

Julia Eisenberg is an associate professor in the Management and Management Science Department. She earned her PhD in Management from the Rutgers Business School, with a focus on organizational behavior. Her research interests include leadership, innovation, knowledge sharing, collaboration among geographically distributed individuals and teams, as well as the effects of technology affordances such as social media. She has over 10 years of experience in the financial industry, having worked for Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan Private Bank, and Morgan Stanley as a product developer and a manager in the technology and the finance divisions. She joined the Lubin School of Business in 2014. Eisenberg’s teaching interests include individual, team, and organizational trends, and she teaches courses such as Managerial & Organizational Concepts, Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, Leadership, and Negotiations.

Eisenberg is actively involved in student-focused activities, from organizing events to being a guest speaker and panel moderator at university and student lead events. She is also one of the CEO Faculty Partners. Eisenberg often engages in career-related discussions with students, using her industry background to help guide their decisions. She also works on research projects that involve a variety of students, including Honors and DPS.

Eisenberg continually attends yearly domestic and international management conferences to present her research. In 2016, a paper co-authored by Eisenberg received the best paper award at the International Conference on Communication and Media. In 2018, Eisenberg was one of the recipients of the Distinguished Research Award from the Institute for Global Business Research. In 2019, a paper co-authored by Eisenberg received the Academy of Management Careers Division Best International Paper award.

Eisenberg is actively involved in service-related activities. She has organized multiple professional development workshops to facilitate discussions to advance the state of the art related to teamwork in organizations as well as among undergraduate students. Eisenberg serves as a reviewer for the Organization Science Journal, Journal of International Management, Human Resources Management Review Journal, Small Group Research Journal, Organizational Management Journal, and has also served as a reviewer for multiple conferences and book chapters. Eisenberg also serves on multiple committees at Pace University.
